Frequently Asked Questions
What is your cancellation policy?
We do our best to provide thoughtful, exceptional care while also respecting the time of both our clients and therapists. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we ask for 48 hours notice. You can reach out to your therapist directly, call our office, or manage your appointment through our secure online system.
Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours notice are subject to the full session fee. We understand that life happens, and we’re always open to reviewing individual situations where the fee may be waived.
Please note that we have a modified cancellation policy for therapy intensives, as these appointments are longer than 55 minutes and require additional preparation and scheduling.
Do you accept insurance?
Wildhaven Therapy is an out-of-network clinic in Oakland, CA, and we do not bill insurance directly. As a specialized trauma-focused practice, our clinicians have advanced training in EMDR therapy, IFS-informed therapy, therapy intensives, and couples intensives, which are specialized approaches that are often not adequately supported or reimbursed by insurance plans.
Remaining out of network allows us to offer longer sessions, EMDR, intensives, and highly individualized care without the constraints imposed by insurance companies.
Many clients choose to use their out-of-network benefits, and we’re happy to provide superbills for potential reimbursement.
What are your rates?
Our session rates range from $175–$300 per session, depending on the clinician, service, and level of experience.
We are an out-of-network practice and do not accept Medi-Cal/Medicaid. Many of our clients use their out-of-network insurance benefits and submit a superbill for partial reimbursement.
The exact rates for each clinician are listed on their individual bio page under Our Team.
How do I choose the right therapist for me?
Finding the right therapist is really about connection. It’s important that you feel comfortable, understood, and supported by the person you’re working with. You want someone who understands your history and what you’re hoping will feel different through therapy.
At Wildhaven Therapy, all clinicians are trained in trauma-focused approaches such as EMDR and IFS-informed therapy, and associates work under close supervision to ensure high-quality, specialized care.
As you explore our team, notice who you feel drawn to. Read their profiles, get a sense of their tone and approach, and see whose style resonates with you. If you’re unsure, we’re always happy to help match you with a therapist based on your goals, symptoms, and preferred way of working. When the fit feels right, the work and healing tends to go deeper.
How long does therapy usually last?
The length of therapy varies from person to person and depends on your goals, history, and how deeply you want to work. Many clients notice meaningful shifts within a few months, while others choose to stay longer to process early experiences, build emotional regulation, or create lasting changes in relationships and daily life.
Because we use trauma-focused approaches like EMDR, IFS-informed therapy, and therapy intensives, many people find therapy can move more efficiently than traditional talk therapy. That said, healing isn’t linear, and we always pace the work to your nervous system.
Some clients attend weekly therapy for several months, others for a year or more, and some transition to periodic check-ins once they feel steadier. If you’re looking for a shorter, more focused option, we also offer therapy intensives, which can support meaningful progress in a condensed timeframe.
Throughout the process, we collaborate with you so therapy feels supportive, aligned, and never rushed.
How often will I need to come to therapy?
Most clients (adults or couples) meet with their therapist weekly and are assigned a consistent time slot each week. We don’t typically offer every-other-week sessions at the start, as trauma-focused therapy is most effective with steady, regular contact.
As you make progress and begin transitioning out of active treatment, we may discuss decreasing frequency to biweekly or monthly check-ins, depending on your goals and overall stability.
For clients seeking more focused or accelerated work, we also offer therapy intensives, which are scheduled separately from weekly therapy and tailored to your specific needs. If you’re unsure which format is right for you, we’re happy to help you decide.
How can I find therapy near me?
A good place to start is by looking for therapists who specialize in the kind of support you’re seeking, whether that’s trauma therapy, couples therapy, EMDR, IFS-informed therapy, or intensive therapy. Reading therapist profiles, exploring clinic websites, and noticing whose approach resonates with you can be helpful.
Many people also use online directories or search for therapy in their local area, such as Oakland or the greater California region. Scheduling a consultation can give you a better sense of a therapist’s style and whether you feel comfortable with them.
If you’re looking for trauma-focused care, Wildhaven Therapy offers weekly therapy, EMDR, and intensives in a supportive, modern setting, both in person in Oakland and online across California. We’re always happy to help you find the best fit within our practice.
